Tips For Taking Photos Of Trees

Taking photos of trees is something that I like to do,they are great to capture against the many backdrops such as the park or in some other place, there are many ways to photograph a tree and I have written some tips here for taking photos of trees and the experiences of my little hobby of tree photography.

In the four photos below, they are a mix of different view points, but I did this for a reason and the reason is this, don't always try to frame everything in a perfect picture frame, because sometimes different view points and angles will be far better for your photos, realistically life isn't all about getting the bigger picture, it's about doing what you want with photography and seeing if it works out.

A digital camera is cheap and can be a good camera to invest in to take lots of pictures that you can upload to your computer although I recommend a higher mega pixel camera, because the pictures look far better anything above a 9 or a 10 should be fine.

 The sun can provide a natural light source needed to enhance a scene of any kind, but when it comes to trees they make them look almost like wire frames at times, silhoettes that appear darkened when the sun shines through.

Having the sun appear on a photo just jazzes a dull picture up and the following 3 photos are examples of using the sun to enhance your tree photos.

 Take a picture of one tree branch, but then come back to it another day nd you'll find you can never take the exact same shot of that branch, well there are advantages of taking pictures of many trees, because everyone is unique and you can build up a massive archive of tree photos just by pointing and clicking all day long.

You can take pictures of parts of a trees branch and make it interesting, in the following 3 photos I like the detail and the trees branching out in different places.

 Wide shot photos are great when you can try and frame something in a particular way or off centre a tree to one side, the key here is focus on experimenting and seeing what might look good.

The 3 photos below are just experiments of wide shots, to try and capture the moment of static trees, with digital cameras there is some element of holding the camera still for a few seconds after the shot has been taken, but sometimes moving the camera slighty may give it a blur that might work or it might not, I like to work with photography that is experimental and just taking photos because I can, rather than professionally.
