Predators Movie Review
67Predators Movie Review
Predators was a great film that I saw and especially as a fan of the previous 2 movies, although the original one was the best as it was a great mix of jungle, guns and an alien hunter and the newer movie Predators was a nod to that original movie. The movie is set on another planet, but a planet with a jungle, almost like the Amazon Rain Forest on our Earth and as the title of the movie suggests, there are more than one alien Predator.
The story starts when the hero of the movie Adrian Brody is seen falling from the sky with only minutes before his para-shoot opens and when he lands, there are others too who have been presumably thrown off an airplane or spaceship and dumped on the planet. It's obvious to us what they are there for, but the characters just have to guess why they are there until part way into the movie.
The Predators look awesome and the make up is as great as the Stan Winston creature effects in the original Swartzenegger movie of the late 80's and there are two different types of Predator, although you only see one example of the other right at the end of the movie and these Predators seem like right hard bastards.
The music is lifted from the first movie and that's what grounds it in a way and makes it more of a proper sequel rather than that King Willy city dwelling Predator 2. Although everyone who is dumped on the planet is either a convicted criminal or once military types who have hired their services out for money, the thing that isn't really explained is who dumped them there, Was it the Predators? or was it someone else?
The ending of the movie is very open ended and doesn't really have a solid conclusion, but that's ok, as we can expect another film if it's not a direct sequel but in some way if it will have more Predators in it, then that'll be brilliant.
Laurence Fishbourne pops up half way through the movie as a survivor dumped a couple of years previously and he's gone slightly nuts with it all and probably steals the show in acting terms with his short appearance. Predators relies a bit too much on the original movie though with the backdrop of the jungle, the same music, but it is a good movie without having to resort to a nuclear bomb on the Predators arm pad which was a good choice as I thought they would try and redo that again, but alas no they didn't.
I rented Predators from Blockbusters to see if it would be a movie I would buy for my DVD collection and it is a great film that I would probably buy, but I may wait until the price has gone down and maybe if they release a DVD with more special features as I love watching the extras on DVD's.

I'm a fan of these movies too and agree, this one was just as good to add to one's collection! :)
Yes, I agree - this was a pleasant surprise! Thought it gave the franchise a much-needed chance to reboot!
I haven't seen it yet but looking forward to it. Thanks for the great review.
