John Howe: Forging Dragons Inspirational Dragon Drawing Book

 A book about dragons with inspiration for drawing and painting dragons from renowned fantasy artist John Howe.

This is not a step by step how to draw dragons rather it is a celebration  of creating dragons from the imagination and references, with fantastic examples of incomplete and finished sketches to the final paintings with some unique insight into the mind of the artist.

The book itself features some Howes finest work and dragon inspired imagery from past works of the lord of the rings to many projects undertaken and commissioned, some of his art from sketches to the finished paintings gets a vague telling of the thought processes behind them and there is a passion for dragon mythology and legend that shows quite well throughout the book.

An explanation of the many dragons that could have existed if we let them are to be found and realised in these pages.

The book has three main sections, which just serve as a focal point for more dragons basically, as the whole book relies heavily on images and sketches to carry it through, and it works by adding brief myths about certain dragons and weaving them in between for all to see.

There is a fan foreword by film director Guillermo Del Torro and a quick introduction that explains the premise and the purpose of the book.

All in all, this book just inspires any artist,by having some point of reference for drawing and creating dragons and a small insight into a tiny fraction of A John Howes Artwork creation process.

I'd recommend this book if you are a fan of dragons or Howes fantasy work.
