I Spit On Your Grave Movie Review
59Movie Review Of - I Spit On Your Grave Remake
Remakes are common in todays film industry with many classic movies getting revamped or remade and with this one it follows pretty much the story quite closely of the original back in the 70's. It's a story of revenge sort of in the same vein as The Last House On The Left but this time it's just a Woman on her own left to do the revenge against her attackers.
Jenny Hills is an author who retreats to an old cabin in the woods to write for a few months when trouble comes knocking on her door and she gets attacked and raped by a gang of idiots in and around her home. The disturbing nature of the story is needed to justify the second half of the movie as she gets her revenge against her attackers and the roles of victim become reversed as the attackers become the victims.
The rape scenes weren't too graphic, although anyone who has gone through this ordeal in real life should be warned beforehand before watching this. There are some superb moments when Jenny gets her revenge as she becomes in control after the attackers thinks she drowned when she jumped off a bridge into a nearby river. In fact the second half of the movie is like a true horror movie with all of the gory moments as her revenge seems justified much like in the Crow and similar movies.
Visually the movie reminded me of Friday the 13th with American country side that resembles Crystal Lake territory and there's that classic over played plot device of having a bent Sheriff who you just know is a bad dude from the outset. As remakes go, this was a decent effort, although the revenge seemed too easy as there was no trouble sorting out these low lifes, but then she was supposed to be a write, so maybe she had a bit of the Spirit of Jessica Fletcher inside her to plan all of the revenge out!
A good movie, just a portrayal of some scumbags getting some payback for being scum suckers!

Sounds like a good one.Great review!
Great review! I saw the original movie when I was about 13. Man did it cause me to have a major headache (as a 13 year old, I really wasn't ready for the rape scenes). I may check this one out. I think I am better prepared to watch as an adult! Thanks for the review!
