By the way, this is a three part series on drawing Halloween stuff, so yes this is part one!

First up is a classic Halloween pumpkin drawing and quickly how to draw one, it's basic, straight to the point and easy, so take note and draw a Halloween pumpkin today.

Drawing A Halloween Pumpkin

Pumpkins start their artwork life as a simple circle, but not a perfect circle like below, see how the circle looks slightly squashed, well that's your starting point.

 Add the eyes, nose holes and mouth with teeth, try and make it look jagged like someone obviously carved it out and then the pumpkin has come alive.

It's simple, isn't it?

Final step of our pumpkin drawing for halloween, add the lines going vertically down and a stem on the top of it's head and simply refine the pencil lines around the shape of the pumpkin and that's it done!!

Of course feel free to add other details if you wish.

Ideas could include:

• Fire
• Blood
• A knife going through the pumpkin, always a favorite!
• An even more evil pumpkin with horns.
• A pumpkin that looks more like a Halloween mask.

In this alternative pumpkin drawing that I did earlier I messed around with the color on Gimp and added some filters such as the cartoon filter to darken some of the lines and I added 2 lens flares for the eyes and did some light smudging to blend a bit of the orange color.

It turned out ok, I think!

 Draw a creepy monster for Halloween with this one that was inspired by a flies head and other creature nasties I have probably seen in a few horror films past and present.

The monster itself is a drawing of a monster focusing on the head and the body more, by just getting the idea right and the idea sketched down on paper before it disappeared forever, as sometimes that happens, you have a great idea to draw something and you sit down with pencil and sketch pad in hand and you just can't get your pencil to magic up a creature drawing or the design you wanted in the first place, I hate that!
