Using Google

Google for those who've lived in a cave for the past vague existence of their life is the top search engine which takes a good percentage of search engine traffic, mainly because they have dominated the Internet with some really good partnerships and tools that they offer Internet users for free.

Using Google is just like any other search engine, you just type what you want to search for in the browser bar and quite often typing in a long sentence or a specific search result to find what you need to find is the way to do it, the browser bar has been updated with a search based feature which when you start to type in your search terms, ten top ten results appear in a selector box under your browser search bar for the search term you are entering in to it, which is very useful if you need to find topics that are popular to write about related to your own interests.

When you sign up for a free google account, you get lots of tools and features that compliment each other and will actually help you to increase your websites exposure in the online world, one of the best free tools is your webmaster tools which you need to copy and paste a bit of code into your site to measure and gain some important data about your site, but you knew that right and Google Analytics which provides the best stats all for free with very detailed stats that track the important stuff, but how do you really use Google?

Well first you've got to have a working knowledge of writing some good content on a website that you own or don't, it's up to you how much effort you want to put in, so getting your content up to scratch is your first priority and then it's about getting your work out there and usually it's about getting traffic to your website for your site to be ranked in the search results, if of course you have optimized your websites pages properly with accurate keywords that reflect the true content on your site.

Back linking is just a simple term that means links from other sites that point to your main site and if you increase the relevancy with the keyword anchor text links in as many well ranked or well liked and respected sites for the purposes of back linking, then your site will have a reasonable chance of moderate success with traffic, but you have to be consistent with your approach and to never slack off with any type of marketing, especially when it comes to Google.

The thing with Google is that it doesn't release the all important information of specific algorythms, as that would make it easy for the spammers to game the system, instead it's just about learning enough about how google works and how they index your webpages to make any success by using Google.

Here's a great tip from a hubber who shows you how to filter your own internal traffic from your sites with Google Analytics, haven't tried it yet, but others seem to think it's a good thing to try. Google anayltics Filtering as this separates your own visits from the stats, making them more true of the actual visits apparently.

Also if you haven't read it yet, see how Mark Knowles himself ( yes, he is a god!) got his hubpage on the first page of Google

Using Google just takes a little bit of self study and seeing what everything else does and how it relates to each other, especially looking at the adwords keyword tool in relation to the actual search results, this provides enough information to start writing new content, use Google trends if you have to, but I don't as I find it just tedious to try and write about current hot topics that may disappear in a week.

Google isn't rocket science, but it can be a time consuming experience too, so make yourself some flasks of coffee and some packed lunch and wear an anorak if you have to and start studying Google in every way you can.

ooow, thank u very much waynet..u're very nice...hmmm is it true if hub can earn money?

waynet profile image

waynet Hub Author 2 years ago

There are ways to get a clone search engine script, but you have to have web hosting and a bit of technical knowhow to install it, something at present even beyond my ability to understand lol!

But in your google account you can create a custom search engine that you can set up to earn through adsense and you can compile any search results you want within your own mini search engine.

Cheers putry, I usually check my comments, but been a bit busy, cheers for the follow!

To get to the first page on Google's SERP is not that hard, the hard part is to figure it out those hot keywords that the SE's users type into the search box...

waynet profile image

waynet Hub Author 2 years ago

Yeah I hope bing gets better at retaining those indexed results, because I've been having some good results with bing the last few months.

Google is definitely a beast of a search engine. And while I do love Google for all that it offers (quality search and plenty of useful services), I'm really hoping Bing gives Google a run for it's money over the next year. Competition is always a good thing. :)

No you just put your google analytics code on your hubpage profile where it says and after 24 hours it should start to track your hubpages that you create, just ask if you need anymore help!

If you search for information there is a lot of other search engines where you can get alternative answers. There's Yahoo, Bing, Cuil, DuckDuckGo and many more.

I for one just dismissed the webmaster tools as for professionals, but then I thought about it, I could be a professional if I took the time to read stuff through and act upon it and that's what I'm doing now!

Wow, you've got a considerable amount of Hubs on here. Just finished reading your write-up on creating a new e-mail address and thought I would check this one out too. On the flip side, it's always surprising how many people miss the "more advanced" features of Google and Google Search (I know this post is geared more towards site owners and indexing).

Anyways, another good one. Thanks!

@uliveulearn You can just add a copyright to the site that the image is held on and just hope for the best, alternatively, you could browse Flikr for some photos and on there it is usually quite obvious what photos are allowed to republish elsewhere with a quick mention of the persons photostream.

@Hubpagesreport! Yeah I like GA and adsense too, but I also like blogger and youtube and the other webmaster tools too.

Yeah analytics is great too, I like looking at the adsense earnings and the metrics of them stats too to find out which hubpages or blog posts get the most clicks and combine that with what keywords people search to find your online content then the jobs a good un with GA.

Cheers Ruby for a great comment!

Ruby J Jones profile image

Hey Waynet. As always great hub. I do use the Google analytics and love it. I also use the filter on my music site as I walk it constantly so it really helps when you want true traffic results. Try it. It only take a few clicks and you are done! Another thing with the analytics is it will help you with your keywords and placing in the search engines. It really isn't that time consuming, least I don't think so. Also the details it gives you on your traffic can't be beat. Yahoo has nothng on them! It will even tell you the city from where your visitor comes from and so much more!
