Drawing Fantasy Worlds: Classic Castle Old World Scene
When it comes to drawing the worlds that your fantasy characters will inhabit it becomes an easier solution to reference life scenes by taking photos and pictures of great landscape scenes on your travels or thumb through a book showing scenes from all around the world.
Drawing fantasy worlds becomes another imaginative excerise that you must get used to, it comes in handy setting the scene for your characters but also potential story ideas and elements come together once you begin to draw background scenery in your fantasy art.
Fantasy worlds are the old medieval history worlds or the futuristic worlds of space travel with space ships, it's up to you what fits your imagined world you could for example combine bits of future worlds and ancient worlds and make something truly original.
In this little guide I go through drawing an old type of world the classic kind with a castle and the mountains with forests in the background.
Then In the second part of my two part hub series I will go drawing a futuristic fantasy world with fantastic buildings amidst a backdrop of flying spaceships and other vehicles, that sounds like fun.
And the third hubpage I haven't decided on yet, trust me it will be something fantastic.
Now onto the castle and drawing our classic fantasy world scene.
Like many other drawings we start out conceptualizing our drawing so that the ideas and concepts that we know for certain that we want to appear in the art are placed properly.
See the drawing video below, I drew the outline of the castle on top of a mountain as that is the classic way of depicting a castle, so I start with the usual image of a castle drawn this way.

Developing Your Castle And Scene Drawing
Developing your castle and the scenery around your fantasy world scene drawing is something of a matter of placement, where all of your elements will go in the final drawing, what works best for the castle, right in the middle or top right up in the skyline, it's really up to you when it comes down to isues like composition, but there are ways and means to understand what will work best.
In this step I go through the development of my first draft sketch and in this step you must find what your drawing is going to look like and stay like as this is the final stage of ideas and concepts to bring your sketch to life.
Changing it after this stage might cost you some time by going back to the drawing board and beginning a new sketch, drawing lots of sketches in various ways will help you to overcome wasting time by having the relevant draft sketches in front of you to reference your final attempt at your fantasy world art.
See the second sketch below and see that the drawing compared to the original rough draft is far different and one that has obviously been worked through by using your initial ideas and then starting to merge the first ideas with new ones that arise through your second stage of development drawing.

Finishing Details And Scenery Finishing Touches
The final pencil lines make the whole drawing look a bit more clearer, although it does need a bit more sketching work doing to it, but it's an idea, one that you can learn from to draw your own fantasy worlds.
Take this example to the right, this is another drawing sketch that I did of ruined castle on a hill with the sloping stairs and a twisted tree, I've since inked this drawing and I also did some drawing videos which you can watch that I inked the full drawing, some have the audio missing so I replaced them with a bit of music, but you can watch these videos here - Inking a fantasy scene part 1 and you will then see the links to the other 2 videos after watching this first one.
