Drawing A Troll Face

Draw a Trolls head

Whenever you try and think about a Troll you might think about an ugly Troll that lives under a bridge that torments passers by and so with that image in mind you have the brilliant starting point to draw inspiration from and here you will find out how to draw a Trolls face and head and it will be an ugly Troll, although a Lady Troll may find it the most handsome Troll face ever!

I originally did a drawing tutorial that ended up looking more like a cartoon version of drawing a full Troll figure which might give you some ideas on drawing Trolls further.

Watch the video below to see how to draw a Trolls face in pencil first and remember you don't have to follow my own version of this Troll's head you can go your own way and add other things as you go along such as crazy Troll hair and more intricate tribal tattoo markings on the face.

Have fun!

Inking Your Troll's Face

Using classic black gel ink pens you can ink the Troll head quite quickly and improce certain areas along the way, although with my drawing I wanted to hurry up the process as the whole idea is to help you to draw your own Troll head drawings and inspire you in some way more than give a complete guide on the subject.

You can add as much shadow areas to your inked drawing as you want or add ink effects like cross hatching which is most effective under the eyes and the cheek bones. The inking process as I have said numerous times that it's not about tracing over your pencil lines it's more about improving the drawing as a whole with drawn lines with your ink pen that have different weights to them. Discovering how to ink is really about the process of experimentation and being practical with your ink pens and also exploring what you can do with them. Here are a selection of ink pens to consider - Ink pen recommendations

Coloring A Trolls Head With Prismacolor Colored Pencils

For this video tutorial I had to split up a large 40 minute video into 3 parts as it wouldn't upload to YouTube for some reason, maybe because it was a large file size and my Internet connection couldn't handle it or something. I used the Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils for this coloring demonstration and they really are quality pencils for blending as you can see in the videos below. Look for a complete video review of the Prismacolors soon....

As a quick run down of the three drawing videos here's what I did. I started to add some dark Brown around the eyes and then followed by a light brown which then I layered in a Dark Green with a Light Green over the skin to give it a Troll like skin color. Highlights of Golden and Bright Yellow were added last to blend the Browns and the Greens together. A White pencil was used over the Brown hair color to blend the Black and the Browns together making the colors appear smoother.

Try drawing and coloring a Trolls head yourself. Either follow the video or make up your own Troll's face.

Dear Wayne -- What a crazy comment I made here! Oh my goodness! That's what happens when you try to respond using the cellphone and not computer. I was giving comment to blog of 7 days of recipes. Now, I find myself on Troll Drawing Hub. Maybe the trolls did it, subterfuge to get me here.

You have a knack in providing video demonstrations using multiple media to create your finished drawings. That's one ugly looking troll, I much prefer the cute little ones with the fuzzy hair. Keep on drawing.

Blessings,

Debby

That's so cool, I have to try this myself. Thanks for the info. It looks so easy when a professional shows you how to draw. I'm sure mine will look more like Humpty Dumpty than a troll. Voted Up and Awesome!
