How To Avoid Ebay Auction Failure
71Avoiding Ebay Auction Failures
Ebay selling can come quite natural to some people, but the majority of ebay sellers think that selling is as easy as pie, but many are failing at their own ebay auctions and they don't understand what's going on unless they look into why they aren't selling any of their stuff. It takes time to build up sales on Ebay and also time to study why you don't make any sales to start out with.
When there are no bids on your items at the end of your auction, you do feel a little bit discouraged by it. I've done it in the past and it does make you feel rejected and can also frustrate you somewhat. Instead it i best to write down everything you do on Ebay, what works and what doesn't and discover for yourself how you are going to make sales.
There are certain things that sets a good ebay seller apart from a bad seller on Ebay. First thing to think about. Is your item in a high demand? if not, you may struggle to gain a sale. Many top Ebay sellers do extensive research to see what the popular items are to sell and they go with these items. Never consider research time wasted time as it will save you the disappointment of not selling an item and having to re-list it.
Pricing could be the second top factor in not making a sale. Setting your opening bid too high may put people off, naturally assume the price based on other similar listings and try and price accordingly. Always have in the back of your mind, that people are looking for a bargain and you may be looking for a small profit. You can see other auction listings that are similar to the ones you are planning and determine a good but fair price for your own listing items.
Not very clear descriptions are another factor in the failed auction. Your grammar doesn't have to be perfect, but your spelling does and an accurate description of your item is essential for buyers to understand what your item is exactly and if there is any flaws or slight damage. A good description is your sales literature and this together with a nice and clear photo of your item is the best advert to make a sale. Good feedback on Ebay is supposed to build trust and so try and be honest with your selling through your written sales copy.
High shipping prices may steer people away from your auction and they may find a cheaper seller on Ebay, so wherever possible try and find the lowest shipping prices so that it won't cut into your profits. Although when you are paying listing fees also it could eat into your profits if you decide to pay for shipping and handling too. Always look for options at reducuing your shipping costs.
Customer service is a time consuming process but a valid one to create that trust and reliability, maybe consider asking your buyers to give you feedback on your service to see if there are any flaws that you might not have expected and to see if your customers are happy with purchasing from you. Remember that any feedback you receive that is positive can be used as a testimonial to show other customers who are thinking of buying and even the negative comments can be used to better improve your selling process and customer service.
Ebay selling can be considered a drag with all the increasing fees and other certain business practices that make Ebay not a good business to try, but it could be useful for some experience of selling online.
Avoid auction failure by research, good descriptions and putting the customer first.
