Horror Movie Reviews Wrong Turn 2 Dead End
75Wrong Turn 2 Dead End
Wrong turn 2 is a return to the cannibalistic hill billies of the first film which is always nice, even though it gives Hill billies a bad name, I mean shouldn't they be looking for black gold on an oil patch or something instead of feeding off passing teenagers, oh well no matter, this was a great sequel with some nasty gory shocks that made it fun.
The opening scene is of an actress who is on her way to join a group of young teenagers(always the case eh?) for a new reality survivor show where the group has to survive in a make believe apocalypse in the jungle and as usual it all goes pear shaped because they didn't factor in the fact of cannibal mutants wanting to kill and eat them.
Back to the opening scene we see the actress driving in a quite nice car until she hits one of the mutants, but she maybe thinks it's just a local homeless tramp and she gets out of the car to see if he's still breathing he bits her lips off and while she's screaming her head off another of the hillbillies walks up to her with an axe and chops her in half and I mean long ways and the cannibals are seen dragging the two halfs away.
As usual with these types of horror films there are some great death scenes and and a look at the mutant family in a bizarre way you understand them, but then you don't as they've apparently been doing this for years as you later find out, the story is based on Alan McElroy who has written some comic books like Curse of The Spawn and also wrote the original story for the first Wrong Turn Film.
Again I don't know what the fascination is with hillbillies as cannibal mutants, but it could actually be plausible as parts of America are vast areas of jungle and wild countryside as well as harsh terrain so it could be possible, but this film goes with the cliched route of toxic waste causing the mutations, unlike in the film The Hills Have Eyes where the Mutants there were casued by nuclear radiation over a period of years.
The film takes a few minutes to get going after the opening scene, but when it does there's lots of action and hoping for someone to survive as usual, so this was a good sequel, although there is a 3rd Wrong Turn film out (which I'll have to review at some point)
And I recommend it if you like films like this, gory and with sadistic hill billy cannibal mutants.

I haven't seen either one. I though the hillbillys were vicious and deformed due to generations of interbreeding.
I liked the first one a bit better.
I might have to go and check out the first one before taking a look at this one. Sometimes a campy (which amazingly rhymes with crappy almost) film is just what the doctor ordered. :)
Not my genre of choice but I've now got really weird visions of the Beverley Hills Hill billies going around in my head. LOL! Amber
Nothing like hill billy cannibal mutants. Haha. Nice review. I love the good horror movie as much as the next person. :)

That's what I thought, but there are hints to mutations from other sources along the way....
