Horror Movie Reviews: Evil Dead 2
61Evil Dead II Movie Review
Evil Dead 2 is a more rounded film and expands upon the original Evil Dead Filmwith a touch more of the slapstick and black comedy amidst the horror this time around, Bruce Campbell is back as Ash and some may argue that this is one of them times that a sequel out does the first movie and I reckon it does in spades.
The story begins with Ash and his Girlfriend Linda making their way to the cabin when they are immediately set upon by evil spirits that possesses Linda and turns her into a deadite and after Ash chopping off her head with a spade, buries her only to have her do a stop motion animated dance and rolling her head, classic!
The story continues on in much the same vein as a few characters get caught up in the madness and the slap stick comedy ensues mixed with some seriously good horror moments, although some reckon the first movie was scarier and I suppose I'd have to agree, but it's the second movie that really made the Evil Dead shine for me.
Bruce Campbell is in his element here as he gets to save the day only to be trapped in a medieval time right at the end of the movie. It's a roller coaster of a ride with evil dead demons possessing the living and Ash having to cut his possessed hand off. It turned out okay though as he has a chainsaw and a shotgun to sop the Evil dead madness.
I recently bought the Evil Dead trilogy on dvd as I needed it to fill my collection as previously I had them on VHS which was so last year (or century!)
Evil Dead 2 was just a fun horror film really and it had some great ideas in it and especially that twist at the end which when you watch it for the first time you don't see it coming, or at least you do now if you haven't seen it and I already mentioned he went to a medieval period in a fictional history and then that leads us into Army of Darkness for another day....
Go buy the DVD of Evil Dead 2 while they are very cheap indeed!
