Horror Film Reviews: Black Sheep
72Black Sheep
Counting Black Sheep
I watched this horror comedy the other night and it was fun, Black Sheep is about were sheep running around eating people and other funny horror stuff.
The story begins with a flashback sequence going back to the childhood of two brothers who are growing up on a New Zealand farm, one older brother who is a right twat to his younger brother when he kills his pet sheep and wears the skin of the sheep to scare his younger brother Angus and in doing this Angus is afraid of sheep 15 years later when he returns to the farm to settle on the sale of the farm after his fathers accident.
The story begins when two environmental activists steal and release a sheep that has been genetically engineered and the crazy one of the duo Grant gets bitten by the tiny little ugly lamb like creature and so the creature goes on to infect other sheep in and around the farm, turning them into vicious were-sheep and in turn the sheep begin to infect people too, turning them into human were-sheep.
This is a film that plays for laughs most of the time and sometimes it delivers, but on certain parts the actors voices just grate a bit, but really though this is a fun film that reminds me of that Peter Jackson classic Bad Taste(Roast of the Day) because of the actors that are not recognizable but rather new actors and the effects are a step up from Bad Taste, but still on a low budget scale that really goes back to the old style of film making that many seem to prefer over CGI infested films.
As with Shaun of the Dead, there are touches of horror and comedy in Black Sheep and they play out equally well and the sheep animatronics are quite impressive from Weta Workshop who created all of the props and prosthetics for the hugely successful Lord of the Rings and the Narnia films.
Black Sheep is another cult classic horror film that is hilarious with the comic and horror moments combined and the ending just made it all seem like a bad dream. so buy it on Amazon....

This was a great movie. good review!
lol, now this I have to see, I'm glad you said it's a horror comedy though, not sure I could take a straight horror about zombie were-sheep seriously. =)
A film from home. It's good ... but weird.
Oh this does sound funny. Thanks for a great review!
I think that was the idea - a bit like the guts and gore were the best actors in bad taste. Ew eating brains...
