Starting A Business With The Right Mindset

Starting a business is something that you should not run into lightly as it takes alot of thought and energy to build a business from scratch and quite early on the business needs to be ironed out with your initial idea and to some degree it needs to be tested to work and you can show that what your idea can do to actually earn you money as a self employed business person.

Business start ups fail for a couple of reasons:

  • Failing to plan your business with a good marketing plan
  • Losing interest, because you rushed into your niche when you thought in the back of your mind that you could create a business and don't well you will be silly!
  • There's no market for your business - again this goes back to your failing to plan.
  • Being self employed just isn't for you.
  • Your product is shit, you are shit and what your business presents is shit!

Starting any business takes work and lots of time you need to have, but you also need to think about how you will overcome obstacles such as your areas of expertise, what you are good at and what you need to improve upon, because more than likely the areas that you need to improve in your business will grow your business if you start to get better at them, but it all comes down to your self discipline to motivate you to get past these barriers.

As an example my barriers would be communication or the face to face approach as I am totally rubbish at this, but with increased confidence in other areas I'm sure I'll pick this up in the future, because on the phone and email and in other online areas I'm more confident and straight forward, so what I lack there I more than make up with everything else that builds towards my own goals.

As said previously, business building takes planning and indeed continuous planning that should be done periodically to see if you can affect a change and see results by looking back through your own documents and records such as cash flow analysis, marketing plan, competitor reports, website statistics, email subscribers etc.

Planning is only one of the important things you need to do, but above all else you need to have an end goal in mind and a bit of the entrepreneurs spirit when considering a business start up, if you can dream, the that's a good start, but if you can dream and help shape that dream into a reality, then even better.

You may have your own reasons why you would want to start your own business and for all intents and purposes there is a universal understanding of having your own business and that is "you get out of it what you put in" and the best reason I can think of is, you are your own boss and that is something that other people you may know always might say, but never ever do and wouldn't it be nice to pip them to the post and say "I'm my own boss now!"

Start your business today, whether that's in the idea, the planning or the marketing, do it now, don't put it off, because if you put off what you could start to do today, then your thoughts of your own business will die with you when you leave this world into the afterlife if you believe that sort of thing!
