Rambo - The Fourth Instalment 2008

Rambo was one film trilogy that was the best thing to watch in the 80's like many films of that decade and after the 3rd film came out I thought yeah that's it now, they won't do any more because it was a tired franchise that would be hard to replicate the success of the previous films, but over 20 years later that's what they did and this Rambo is just as good.

The story of the Rambo continues for John Rambo while he is living in Thailand scratching a living by catching poisonous snakes, until that is the Burma situation rears it's ugly head which of course in real life is a common problem what with their own strict government, that makes it's own rules up.

A group of bible bashers come to the aid of a local village, just as it is about to be destroyed by local so called authorities who kill just about everyone, even the kids and keep a few women just to rape and whatever and this scene is believe it or not a toned down version of what actually goes on, which just goes to show that the world is a hell hole in some parts of the world.

And the group get captured by the local terrorists and it's up to Rambo and a group of mercenaries to help save them.

Throughout the film there is violence aplenty, but the other Rambo films show you this, but this one seemed to show the violence as a way of highlighting the Burma situation and what actually goes on there and it's great because you see these Burmese army types as vile disgusting people that you just want Rambo to blow up and he does with style.

When the baddies get shot in this film it looks real, with computer generated blood and guts splattering all over the place, the realism is there and with Sylvester Stallone writing and directing this Rambo film, you get to see a rare film that shines, as he said he tried to direct it from the view of Rambo himself.

The ending brings a good conclusion to the story and you feel all the better for all the bad guys getting what's coming to them, but even though some of it may shock you for it's shameful portrayal of some members of the human race, but that's life I suppose, in reality there are no Rambo's at least not that I know of, to get rid of the nasty people of this world.

This was a fun film and highly recommended and you can't really tell that Stallone is well into his 60's, even though he's starting to look more like his mum Jackie, go watch Rambo it's a great film.

He (Sylvester Stallone) still has a smoldering something about him and agree about the movie- it is a mix of the ugly and noble natures of man. :)
